Mighty Ducks of Anaheim

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim is a team who has struggled since their founding by Disney in 1993. Year after year, not being able to grasp Lord Stanley's Cup. Finally, after Ten long years of watching other teams succed, they got their chance. The Ducks took their game all the way to Game Seven of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, unfortuanatley they came out with a 3-0 loss. Even with that loss, their Goaltender, Jean-Sebastien Giguere came out of the fight with the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is awarded to the MVP of the Playoffs.
After winning the award, though gracious, said "I would rather be hoisting the Silver Chalice instead."
After a bummer year and a lock out, the Ducks seem to be doing alright. After finally breaking a 7 game losing streak, think have been going up hill for them. Even with Giguere injured, Bryzgalov, the back up goaltender, seems to be able to get things done.
But the netminders are not the only ones contributing to the Ducks latest success. Veteran Teemu Selanne, leading the Ducks with 27 GP, 15 G and Nine assists has been a great help to the team this year along with Veterans Joffrey Lupul, Andy McDonald, Rob and Scott Niedermayer. Even the rookies, such as Zennon Konopka, Dustin Pennar, Kris Kunitz and othershave helped get a few victories for the Ducks.
Coach Randy Carlyle says the only way the Ducks can win games is by playing a 60 minute game. They have obviously been playing those full 60 minutes, and making everyone of them count.
The Ducks have had a rough start, their Veteran Starting Goalie, Giguere, recieving two injuries, Todd Fedoruk's suspension, and the trade of Federov, they have proved themselves worthy of a chance for the playoffs.
Duck's Joffrey Lupul commented about Federov's trade as unextpected. The trade has obviously made the Ducks a little nervous, as well as their fans, as they realize any one is succeptable to trade.
GM Brian Burke says, "Anyone is tradeable at this time." Though he did not say if anyone was being showcased, it is believed there is a deal in the works to trade Veteran Petr Sykora for X-Mighty Ducks Captain Steve Rucchin. There are even talks of Paul Kariya coming back, but nothing has been confirmed.
Hopefully the Ducks will be able to continue their success and win Tuesday Nights game at home, before they hit the road.
